Birtukan Ayana Alemu

Birtukan Ayana Alemu is a Lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities at Debre Markos University, Debre Markos, Ethiopia. She is an academic and researcher with interests in literary studies, particularly contemporary African and Ethiopian literature, postmodern literary theories, magical realism, historiographic metafiction, indigenous epistemologies, cultural memory, and representations of history in literary texts.

Her research focuses on exploring the intersections of literature, culture, history, and identity through critical and interdisciplinary approaches. She has been engaged in research on contemporary Amharic novels, examining how literary works reconstruct historical narratives, challenge dominant forms of knowledge, and represent alternative realities through innovative narrative strategies.

As an educator, she is committed to promoting critical thinking, literary appreciation, and scholarly engagement among students. Her academic work contributes to the study of Ethiopian literature and broader discussions in literary and cultural studies.
