  7. Research Interest:

My research interests span a wide spectrum of history and heritage studies, with particular emphasis on social, cultural, political, economic, and environmental history. I am especially interested in investigating the lives and experiences of ordinary people, particularly marginalized communities, while examining the historical development of customs, traditions, religious beliefs, languages, artistic expressions, and knowledge systems across different periods. My work also explores the evolution of political institutions, systems of governance, diplomacy, legal frameworks, and the origins and impacts of wars and revolutions. In addition, I examine the historical significance of trade, agriculture, industry, taxation, and broader economic transformations in shaping societies and international relations. Another important area of my research is the interaction between human societies and the natural environment, including the influence of climate, geography, and landscapes on historical processes. I also have a strong interest in gender and women’s history, focusing on the roles, experiences, and contributions of women and other underrepresented groups. Furthermore, my research extends to the preservation and study of cultural and natural heritage at the local, national, regional, and international levels, while promoting tourism studies with particular attention to Ethiopia’s rich historical, cultural, and natural heritage and the broader East African region.
