Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department of Theatre Arts at Debre Markos University is the youngest department among departments found under College of Social Sciences. It was founded in 2010 E.C\/ 2017. The department was established by hiring Theatre Arts professional teachers who obtained their B.A degree in Theatre Arts from Ethiopian Public Universities namely Addis Ababa and Wolkite University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Department of Theatre Arts at Debre Markos University is found in a place where world class authors, musicians and play writers are originated. Gojjam has been the center for producing various Art Professionals, which will be a resource for teaching fellow students about the essence of Theatre Arts and their Professional mandate. Hence, Students are fortunate enough to seek wisdom at a place where the source of art is flowing as a  water abundantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major Activities of the Department<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following are major activities done as well as running activities in the department since its establishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Theatre for Development Theme<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    • The first theatre was organized in the history of Debre Markos University by the Theatre arts department and Ethiopian National Theatre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Organizing theatre for \u201cLOVE, PEACE FORGIVNESS AND UNITY\u201c Theatre in collaboration with Ethiopian National Theatre in October 07 and 08\/2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Working as a judge for amateur theatre groups\u2019 competition in Amhara Regional State Culture and Tourism Bureau.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Giving community service in Dejen woreda for 20 amateur groups in 2011e.c.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Delivering various trainings focusing on major theatre concepts for East Gojjam zone experts and amateur theatre groups in the year 2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      To be Among the Top Ten Choice of Students in East Africa in Theatre Arts Education in 2030<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Goal 1: Students will develop basic skills\/training in the theatre arts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Goal 2: Students will develop specialized skills\/training in the theatre arts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Goal 3: Students will develop knowledge of theatre history and dramatic literature<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Goal 4: Students will develop skills in script analysis<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Goal 5: Students will develop production skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Goal 6: Students will develop ethics, values and responsibilities of a theatre artist<\/p>\n\n\n\n
